What People Get Wrong In Trump-Newsom Feud
As L.A. stands on the precipice of igniting over Trump's war on illegal immigration, his supporters claim he's only doing what he promised on the campaign trail. Thing is, he's not. And he knows it.
SO, WORLD...
Before I signed off the 'net for the last night, I wanted to clarify a false narrative that is being pushed by Donald Trump, his confederates, supporters - and even people like my ex-friend and ESPN's $100-million dollar man, Stephen A. Smith.
That false notion is that what Trump is doing in Los Angeles is simply what he promised, to "solve" the problem of undocumented illegal immigration in the United States of America.
Now, if you're one of those people who don't pay close attention to words and their meanings or you're one of those folks who can look at something, yet not necessarily SEE what you're looking at, you'd go, "Well, that sounds about right. I HEARD and SAW him say that on the campaign trail."
Thing is, you didn't.
What you heard and saw Donald Trump say on the campaign trail is that he would round up "criminals - rapists, murderers, drug dealers, people convicted of violent crimes" and get them out of the United States of America.
THAT is what Donald Trump said.
That is NOT what Donald Trump and his masked ICE/Probably Deputized Proud Boys are doing in California and many other places across this country.
Somehow, instead of going for the worst human beings who have made their way illegally across these borders, Trump's ICE brigades are showing up at schools, construction sites, restaurants - even SCHEDULED COURT APPOINTMENTS for immigrants working their way through our LEGAL SYSTEM to become naturalized citizen - and grabbing up and detaining these people WITHOUT DUE PROCESS.
Quite simply folks, there is a legal way to do what Donald Trump wants to do - but he ain't doing it that way.
I'm going to leave you tonight with California Governor Gavin Newsom's address to the public that he had placed across his social media platforms.
I want you to watch and then think about what it reminds you of when you're done.
For me, I'm reminded of what honor, respect, humility, intelligence, compassion, empathy, justice and fairness looks like.
Combined, Gavin Newsom's address reminds me of the grave mistake many voters in the United States made last November in the booth for the 2024 election.
When I was done watching Gavin Newsom's address, I was reminded of what a United States president SHOULD look - and sound - like.

Superb analysis on your part. Thanks for the excellent video from Gov. Newsom. I reposted on Facebook.
Gavin Newsome isn't perfect. A couple of weeks ago he took a few positions that moved him closer to center to appear moderate. Truth be told it ticket me off. But when it counts, he's all in. The gloves are off. And he is what is right for California, and by extension, the US right now. He's got what it takes to take on the facsist dictator, and won't back down. Not even from jail.
